What happened to January?
There always seems to be something going on for us, we've entered the Australian Cider Awards with "The Cape" and "Shipwrecked" the competition was run over the last few days. I helped out as a steward and had a great time. Not only was it about setups and cleanups, and pouring ciders for the judges, but also about meeting people in the industry, and supporting a great local event.
Continuing our experiments with the Veggie series, the "Veggie Patch", is nearing completion with a ginger now bottled and undergoing secondary fermentation in the bottle. The fourth instalment might be pumpkin, as I'm just keen to try to make a pumpkin cider, these ciders will become available over the winter months. 🎃 😃
If you are on instagram, be sure to check out the #ciderphotochallenge. We have a lot of fun with it, and hope you do to. This month's theme is "happy place" and you just need to take a photo of a cider in your happy place, using the hashtag. There is no prize, just bragging rights, it's just a little fun to participate. I run the competition under @getsmithcider with my New Zealand friend @Ms_Guide_to_Cider_and_more.
We have a lot coming up in the next few weeks, we will be releasing a new cider to you at the end of the month, we will be attending our first market at the Briar's at the end of February, and we'll be apple picking soon as the season is about to kick off!
It's about to get busy! 😯 🤩 😮
Hope you are staying well and safe. ❤️
